About Pete Strom

Joseph Preston “Pete” Strom, Jr., the managing partner at Strom Law Firm, LLC, has been a steadfast advocate for justice since 1984. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1959, Pete pursued his education at the University of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. During his time there, he was President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He continued his studies at the University of South Carolina School of Law, graduating with a J.D. in 1984.

Following law school, Pete served as a law clerk to the Honorable Frank Eppes, a South Carolina State Trial Court Judge. In 1985, he joined the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office as an Assistant Solicitor. In this role, he managed over 200 drug cases, including prosecuting the largest heroin trafficking case in South Carolina at the time, involving over 100 grams of heroin.

After gaining experience in private practice and partnering in three law firms, Pete was appointed as the United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina in 1993 by Attorney General Janet Reno. Notably, he was the youngest U.S. Attorney in the nation at that time. During his tenure, he established the Violent Crimes Task Force in South Carolina, praised by Attorney General Reno as “a national model for the country.”

Pete's leadership extended to serving on Justice Department committees focused on organized crime, white collar crime, sentencing guidelines, and juvenile justice. He also attended the Harvard University Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.

In 1996, Pete returned to private practice, founding Strom Law Firm, L.L.C. For over 15 years, he has been committed to defending the rights of individuals and small businesses.
