About Deirdre W. Edmonds

Deirdre W. Edmonds was born in Aiken County, South Carolina, and pursued her higher education at the University of South Carolina, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1987. Admitted to the South Carolina Bar on November 23, 1987, Deirdre has practiced law for more than thirty years.

Deirdre began her legal career with Bellamy, Rutenberg, Copeland, Epps, Gravely, & Bowers, P.A. in Myrtle Beach, SC, focusing on estate planning, probate, corporate law, tax, business law, and elder law over a decade. She then joined Kathryn Cook DeAngelo's practice from 1997 to 2001, continuing her specialization in estate and disability planning, elder law, and probate.

In November 2002, Deirdre was elected as Probate Judge for Horry County, a position she held through re-elections in 2006 and 2010 until January 2015. Her legal expertise is complemented by her active membership in the South Carolina Bar, including its sections on Probate, Estate Planning and Trust, and the Elder Law Committee. She is also a member of the Horry County Bar Association.

Deirdre's professional affiliations extend to the Grand Strand Area Estate Planning Council, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), its Carolinas Chapter, and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. She has served as President of the S.C. Association of Probate Judges and contributed to the Probate Judges Advisory Committee upon the request of Chief Justice Jean Toal of the S.C. Supreme Court.

Deirdre and her husband have been married for over 28 years, and together they have three daughters: twins Jessie and Katherine, and their youngest, Aubrey.
