David M. Smith

David M. Smith, a native of South Carolina, has dedicated the majority of his life to the state he calls home. After gaining valuable experience during a five-year stint in North Carolina, he returned to South Carolina to pursue his legal career. Mr. Smith earned his B.A. in Visual Arts from Francis Marion University, where he excelled in Graphic Design and Photography and was an active member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

Before entering the legal field, Mr. Smith built a successful career in graphic design, business-to-business sales, pharmaceutical sales, and medical device sales. His accomplishments in sales earned him numerous awards and recognitions. Witnessing the challenges faced by his colleagues in the industry, he was inspired to transition into law to advocate for those facing unjust situations.

Mr. Smith obtained his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law. During his time there, he actively participated in several organizations, including the Student Bar Association, Student American Bar Association, Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, Children’s Advocacy and Family Law Society, and Criminal Law Society.

While in law school, he gained practical experience as a legal intern at the Charleston County Public Defender’s Office and the Bush Law Group. These roles allowed him to work on diverse client issues, from family law and probate to felony murder cases, providing him with a broad range of legal experience that is invaluable to his current practice.
