About Wesley Stoddard
Wesley Stoddard began his legal career in 1975, joining the family firm founded by Charles C. Moore and Robert L. Stoddard in 1947. Located at 207 Magnolia Street, directly across from the Spartanburg County Courthouse, the firm has operated under the name Moore Stoddard Stoddard & Wood since 1960. Wesley now manages a solo practice focusing on personal injury claims, divorces, family law matters including name changes, real estate closings, probate issues, wills, powers of attorney, and deed drafting.
Wesley held the position of City Prosecutor for the City of Spartanburg for 11 years and is a past President of the Spartanburg County Bar Association. His community involvement includes serving as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church, where he has been Clerk of the Session and Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He is also a past President and past Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg and has served on numerous boards, including Mountainview Nursing Home, Greater Spartanburg Ministries, Junior Achievement, Project EAT, Spartanburg Touchdown Club, Converse Heights Neighborhood Association, and the Dutchman Prison Chapel Committee.
In his extensive service to the legal profession, Wesley has been a member of the South Carolina Bar Board of Governors, the SC Supreme Court Commission on Lawyer Competence, the Bar's Nomination Committee, the Judicial Review Commission, and its House of Delegates for 25 years. He also served as President of the SC Bar Young Lawyers Division. Nationally, he was the Co-chairman of ABA Community Law Week. During his time at USC Law School, he was President of the Student Bar Association.
Wesley actively supports Clemson University, where he has been the IPTAY Chairman for Spartanburg County and an IPTAY Representative since 1978. He has also been a past member of the National Alumni Council and a member of the Board of the Spartanburg County Clemson Club since 1976, currently serving as Chairman of the annual scholarship committee.
