About Ben Akery
Growing up as the son of an industrial safety professional, Ben Akery moved across six states, learning to adapt to diverse environments. This adaptability has been a cornerstone of his legal career. Ben joined the esteemed Steinberg Law Firm in 2008, an institution founded in the 1920s to champion individual rights against larger forces. He became a partner in 2016.
At Steinberg, Ben specializes in personal injury, workers’ compensation, and social security disability law. He completed his undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston, excelling as a scholarship athlete in basketball and baseball, and was a member of the Communications Honor Society. He earned his law degree from Emory University School of Law in 2008, serving as a staff attorney at the Indigent Criminal Defense Clinic and receiving the Morton H. Aronson Franchise Law Award.
Ben is an active member of the South Carolina Bar, Charleston County Bar, and Berkeley County Bar, where he has served on the board of directors and as president of the young lawyers division. He is also part of the board of governors for the South Carolina Association for Justice and a member of the Injured Workers Advocates.
