Annie Andrews

Annie Andrews is a committed legal advocate based in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, with a focus on nursing home abuse and neglect, civil rights violations, and various personal injury matters. With seven years of experience as a trial attorney at the Charleston County Public Defender's office, Annie has tried numerous cases to jury verdict, passionately defending the rights of over 1,000 individuals.

Annie's professional excellence is recognized through her AV-rating by Martindale-Hubbell and her inclusion in Super Lawyers. She was also named among the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” by the National Trial Lawyers. In 2021, she received the Emerging Leader award from the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA) and was honored by Charleston Business Magazine’s Women in Business for her significant contributions to the legal community.

Throughout her career, Annie has been a champion for criminal justice reform, particularly in juvenile justice. She has challenged unconstitutional practices such as solitary confinement and the use of restraint chairs in juvenile detention facilities. Her efforts were instrumental in closing the outdated Charleston County Juvenile Detention Center, ending decades of unconstitutional youth confinement. Additionally, Annie enhanced educational resources in juvenile jails by collecting over 4,000 young adult books to establish or improve libraries in facilities across Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville, benefiting her young clients.

Annie's community involvement is extensive. She serves as a board member of Charleston Legal Access, a nonprofit law firm dedicated to expanding legal services for low-income South Carolinians. She is also a board member of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA), which connects and empowers women lawyers throughout the state. Previously, Annie was a member of the SC Bar’s Elder Law committee, the SC Bar’s Protecting Our Youth Committee, and the Charleston County Juvenile Drug Court. She is also a graduate of the SC Bar’s Leadership Academy.
