Stephen Daniel Demik

Stephen Daniel Demik is a seasoned attorney with a focus on complex civil and criminal litigation, handling a wide range of trials. Over his nearly 15-year career, he has practiced in both state and federal courts, demonstrating a strong command of the legal process. Fluent in Spanish, Mr. Demik offers his clients a broad perspective and effective representation.

He is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and has served as a faculty member at the Trial Lawyers College since 2009. His legal expertise spans various areas, including civil plaintiffs work, criminal defense, tribal court, immigration law, juvenile court, and even cases at Guantanamo Bay. His extensive trial experience includes over 50 federal jury trials across three federal districts: San Diego, Los Angeles, and Rapid City, South Dakota.

Mr. Demik is licensed to practice in South Dakota, California, and several federal courts, including the United States District Courts for the Southern and Central Districts of California and the District of South Dakota. He is also admitted to the United States Courts of Appeal for the Eighth and Ninth Circuits and the United States Supreme Court.

In recognition of his dedication, Mr. Demik received the E. Stanley Conant Award in 2008 for his commitment to protecting the rights of the indigent accused, awarded by the Defenders Programs of San Diego. He is also a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College, Trial Practice Institute, further solidifying his expertise in the field.

As a faculty teacher at the Trial Lawyers College, Mr. Demik imparts trial skills to both civil plaintiff and criminal defense attorneys nationwide, enhancing their ability to advocate effectively for their clients.
