About Gerald Howard Summers
Jerry H. Summers, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and Hamilton County, Tennessee, has dedicated his career to legal excellence. After earning his law degree, he served for two years as a prosecutor in the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office. In 1969, he transitioned to private practice, establishing what is now known as Summers, Rufolo & Rodgers. As an accomplished trial lawyer, Mr. Summers is one of the few attorneys consistently featured in every edition of Best Lawyers in America for both personal injury and criminal law.
Mr. Summers holds membership in prestigious legal honoraries, being one of approximately five attorneys in Tennessee recognized for both legal skill and ethical standards. He is a fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. Additionally, he is among three attorneys in Tennessee invited to join the American Board of Criminal Lawyers.
His leadership roles include serving as President of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and the Tennessee Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He has also contributed to the national boards of the American Association for Justice and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, maintaining life membership in both state and national organizations.
Active in numerous legal and community organizations, Mr. Summers serves on the boards of Area IV Special Olympics, Orange Grove Center, CADAS, and several other initiatives. While actively practicing law, he supervises Summers, Rufolo & Rodgers and collaborates closely with fellow attorneys.
