R. Joshua McKee, born and raised in Athens, Tennessee, embodies small-town values in his legal practice. He graduated from McMinn County High School in 1990, where he was active in sports, playing both football and baseball. In 1995, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Middle Tennessee State University, where he also served as President of the MTSU chapter of Sigma Chi and remains an active alumni member.
While pursuing his legal education at the Nashville School of Law, Josh worked full-time for the State of Tennessee as Ginseng Coordinator and gained experience at various law firms in Nashville and Averitt Express. He received his Juris Doctor in 2000.
Josh has furthered his expertise by attending the prestigious Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning at the University of Miami and Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyer’s College in Wyoming. He managed his own firm in Athens, Knoxville, and Nashville, Tennessee, focusing on Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, Civil Practice, Estate Planning, and general practice areas.
Outside of his professional life, Josh enjoys golf, hiking, and outdoor activities. He is married to Mandy McKee and has a son, Hayden, and a step-son, Caleb. His family background includes his parents, Robert S. McKee, a former State House of Representatives Member, and Marion ‘Honey Bee’ McKee.
