About Theresa Scott
Theresa Scott combines her extensive educational background with a deep personal commitment to advocacy. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, she pursued a Master of Science degree in education and another in history at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her academic journey culminated in a Juris Doctorate from the Nashville School of Law.
Theresa's dedication to helping others is deeply rooted in her family's military background. Inspired by her grandfather, a WWII veteran, and her father, a Vietnam veteran, she began advocating for her father's veterans' benefits. This experience instilled in her a profound sense of duty and led her to join Hughes & Coleman, where she continues to make a significant impact.
Before her current role, Theresa served as an attorney for the State of Tennessee in the Juvenile Court. She was a staunch advocate for children's best interests in cases involving custody, parentage, educational neglect, and neglect/dependency. In addition to her legal career, Theresa has enjoyed teaching history and law courses at the high school and college levels.
Outside of her professional life, Theresa enjoys exploring nature, often hiking through the state parks of Kentucky and Tennessee with her dog, Vinny. She also cherishes traveling with friends and family.
