Gordon A Byars

Gordon A Byars is a dedicated attorney based in Cookeville, Tennessee, focusing primarily on criminal defense. He devotes much of his time to courtroom advocacy, representing individuals accused of crimes, and frequently argues cases before juries.

Mr. Byars has presented arguments before the Tennessee Court of Appeals and managed cases in front of administrative bodies such as the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security and the Board of Nursing. He is a proud graduate of the Tennessee Criminal Defense College (2017).

Actively involved in the legal community, Mr. Byars serves on the Board of Directors for Middle Tennessee of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL) and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL).

Mr. Byars is committed to community service and has been recognized as an Attorney for Justice by the Tennessee Supreme Court in 2016, 2017, and 2018 for his significant pro bono contributions. He played a key role in organizing the first Packs for Pints event, which provided nearly 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to foster children in the Upper Cumberland region.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Byars shares his knowledge through lectures at Tennessee Tech University, covering topics such as Knowing Your Rights and interactions with law enforcement. He has also guest lectured in business law, corrections, and criminal justice classes at Tennessee Tech and the Cookeville Higher Education Campus.

Outside of his professional commitments, Mr. Byars enjoys spending quality time with his wife Hilary, their two daughters, and their American Bulldogs, Doc and Dolly. He is passionate about sports, outdoor activities, and is an enthusiastic hunter and shooting sports participant.
