Steven Oberman

Steven Oberman has been a prominent figure in DUI defense since 1980, representing thousands of clients in Knoxville and East Tennessee. As the named principal of The Oberman Law Firm, he has built a reputation for his successful defense in DUI and Vehicular Homicide cases.

Steven's dedication to DUI defense is evident through his long-standing membership on the Board of Regents of the National College for DUI Defense, starting in 1999. He was the first attorney in Tennessee to achieve certification as a DUI Defense Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization and the NCDD.

His scholarly contributions include authoring DUI: The Crime & Consequences in Tennessee and co-authoring Drunk Driving Defense with Lawrence Taylor, a national treatise. Steven has been actively involved with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, serving as chair or co-chair of its DUI Committee since 1995 and frequently contributing to its publication, The Champion.

In 2019, Steven was honored as a Fulbright Scholar, teaching as a visiting professor at The University of Latvia in Riga.
