John H. Lovell

John H. Lovell, Managing Partner of Lovell, Lovell, Isern & Farabough, LLP, brings a distinctive expertise to his legal practice in Amarillo, Texas. As one of the few trained agronomists in the legal field, John applies his knowledge of crop production, plant physiology, soils, and irrigation to his work in cattle law. His five years of ranch experience post-college further enhance his understanding of the cattle industry.

John is a seasoned trial lawyer with comprehensive experience in litigation, handling cases from initial filing through to appeals. While he is renowned for his work in cattle law, his practice extends to a broad range of litigation matters for both businesses and individuals, representing clients on both plaintiff and defense sides.

His legal expertise encompasses cases involving construction, liens, fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, RICO, and tortious interference. John holds the prestigious Board Certification in Civil Trial Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by less than 7% of Texas attorneys.

John earned his Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, summa cum laude, from Texas Tech University in 1975, and his law degree from Baylor University Law School in 1984. During his time at Baylor, he was awarded the Republic Bank Estate Planning and Trusts Award and the George C. and Albina Kacir Memorial Award.

Recognized by his peers, John has been listed in Texas Super Lawyers every year since 2005, celebrating his 15th consecutive year in 2020. He has also received the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating.

In addition to his practice, John serves on the board of directors for the Texas Lawyers’ Insurance Exchange and has been a board member for over 11 years. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Amarillo Area Bar Association, and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
