About Kim Cook Smith
At just eighteen months old, Kim Cook Smith fled her homeland of South Vietnam as North Vietnamese forces seized Saigon in April 1975. Her American father was determined to keep the family together, and they escaped on a military cargo plane with only the clothes on their backs. This early life experience shaped Kim's resilience and determination.
After arriving in the United States, Kim grew up in Houston, where she attended elementary school and enrolled in ESL classes, eventually losing fluency in Vietnamese, though she still understands it conversationally. She graduated from high school in Houston and pursued higher education at Texas A&M University in College Station, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Rhetoric. Initially aspiring to become a veterinarian, Kim shifted her focus to law, attending the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, graduating early, and earning her license to practice law in Texas in May 2000.
Kim began her legal career in Workers’ Compensation at The Law Firm of Adam Henderson in Houston. After four years, she expanded the firm's presence into the Dallas-Fort Worth area by establishing the Law Office of Henderson & Kroenung. In 2008, Kim chose to continue her practice independently as The Wyatt Law Firm, focusing solely on Workers’ Compensation.
Outside of her professional life, Kim is the proud mother of six children—five boys and one girl—who bring immense joy to her life. Her journey from a war-torn country to a successful legal career exemplifies her dedication and perseverance.
