About Bob Mabry
With a distinguished legal career, Bob Mabry has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Texas Supreme Court, and all inferior Texas state courts. He is also admitted to the Northern District of Texas and the Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. He has been a member of the State Bar of Texas since November 3, 1990.
Bob has successfully won appeals, trials, and probation revocations in Texas state courts, and has overturned criminal convictions through Texas state post-conviction writs of habeas corpus. His career includes serving as a former Matagorda County Assistant District Attorney and as a Section Chief for State Counsel for Offenders, focusing on appeals and Sexually-Violent-Predator Civil Commitment cases. Additionally, he has experience as a criminal trial lawyer at State Counsel for Offenders.
A lifelong Texan, Bob was born in Houston, raised in Deer Park, and now resides in Conroe. His family has owned real estate in Montgomery County from 1970 to 2019. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from Austin College in Sherman, where he was a Trustees' Merit Scholarship recipient, and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law--Houston, where he was a member of the South Texas Law Review and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure I.
Before his legal career, Bob was a speech and drama coach and taught English and history at St. Thomas High School, a Catholic institution in Houston. He is a member of the Federalist Society, the State Bar of Texas, including its Appellate, Criminal Justice, Juvenile, and Litigation sections, and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He also served as a board member of the Montgomery County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
Bob has contributed to legal education by teaching a Continuing Legal Education class on Ineffective Assistance of Counsel on September 16, 2016, at the Matagorda and Wharton County Criminal Appointments Class.
