About Maria McIntyre
Maria McIntyre, born near Columbus, Ohio in 1975, has a rich heritage with her mother being of Vietnamese descent who immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1960s. Having grown up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Maria graduated with honors from Texas Christian University in 1998, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Political Science. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2002.
Maria discovered her passion for U.S. immigration law early in life, inspired by her mother's experiences in immigrating family members from Vietnam. Starting her legal career in 2003, she worked as a staff attorney for a local non-profit dedicated to providing affordable legal services to undocumented immigrants. In May 2004, Maria transitioned to private practice, joining a full-service immigration firm in Dallas, Texas. She advanced to the position of senior associate by 2005 and held this role until 2008. Maria has also contributed as an expert witness on immigration law for the State of Texas.
Her extensive experience covers a wide range of U.S. immigration law areas. Initially focusing on H-2A Agricultural and H-2B Seasonal Visas, Maria's expertise soon expanded. She now handles deportation defense, including bond redetermination hearings, cancellation of removal, asylum, withholding of removal, and relief under the Convention Against Torture. Her practice also encompasses family-based immigration, citizenship and naturalization, relief under the Violence Against Women's Act (VAWA), nonimmigrant visas, humanitarian relief through Citizenship and Immigration Services (C.I.S.) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.), as well as federal court representation.
