Matthew Chandler

Matt Chandler, a partner at Payne, Powell, Truitt & Chandler in Lubbock, Texas, is licensed to practice law in both Texas and New Mexico. This dual-state qualification allows him to effectively represent clients in a diverse array of legal matters across both jurisdictions. Matt's roots trace back to Clovis, New Mexico, where he was raised in a family steeped in faith and hard work. His father, a former Magistrate Judge and New Mexico State Senator, inspired Matt's early interest in the legal field.

Prior to joining Payne, Powell, Truitt & Chandler, Matt held the position of 9th Judicial District Attorney in Clovis, New Mexico, for over a decade. During his service, he earned the New Mexico Prosecutor of the Year Award and managed some of the state's most challenging criminal cases, including 35 murder cases and one of the last death penalty cases in New Mexico.

In addition to his prosecutorial work, Matt also served as a District Judge in the 9th Judicial District. In this role, he presided over thousands of cases involving criminal law, family law, and civil disputes. His extensive legal experience has equipped him with a thorough understanding of both judicial and prosecutorial processes, establishing him as a reliable advocate for his clients.
