S. Rafe Foreman received the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious Educating Advocacy Teachers conference at Stetson University School of Law. As a partner in Hutchison & Foreman PLLC, Rafe has dedicated his career since 1988 to representing individuals wrongfully accused or injured, both physically and emotionally.
Rafe's expertise spans criminal defense, plaintiffs’ personal injury, civil rights, employment discrimination, wrongful death, excessive force, and 1983 actions. He has been Board Certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1994. Licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Missouri, Rafe has achieved jury verdicts across these states and has litigated in Louisiana, South Dakota, Colorado, California, Washington, Florida, and Arizona.
Together with Susan Hutchison, his law partner, Rafe has secured numerous record-setting jury verdicts in Texas and nationwide, with cases reaching the United States Supreme Court. Recognized as a SUPER LAWYER for many years in Texas, Rafe is both a retired and current law professor. He has served on the Trial Lawyer’s College Faculty for 21 years and continues as an adjunct Professor of Law at Stetson Law.
Rafe retired from UMKC Law and the Douglas Stripp Endowed Chair in Advocacy after elevating the school's advocacy ranking to its highest. He pioneered the Show Me Challenge, the only jury selection trial competition in the U.S. Rafe holds an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. His commitment to addressing discrimination remains strong, with plans for future jury trials.
