John David Mayoras holds a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan and earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. During law school, he gained early courtroom experience through the Criminal Defense Clinic and worked with the Innocence Project to assist the wrongly convicted. His commitment to criminal defense was further solidified as a research assistant to a law faculty member and as an intern at North Carolina's Office of the Attorney General.
John began his legal career at the Office of Public Defender in Fredericksburg, where he quickly advanced. He tried numerous cases across various jurisdictions and often assisted new public defenders as they presented their first jury trials.
