About Michael Layman Ritchie
Michael Ritchie is a seasoned attorney at the Ritchie Law Firm, specializing in a broad spectrum of injury cases. His practice encompasses representing clients injured by pharmaceutical drugs, dangerous products, and in tractor-trailer and automobile collisions. He also assists clients with navigating the complexities of worker’s compensation and social security disability systems.
Raised in Keezletown, Virginia, Mike has deep family roots in the Shenandoah Valley. He graduated from Spotswood High School in Penn Laird in 1991 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia in 1996, where he was an active member of the UVA Ski Team. He returned to UVA for law school, joining the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law, and received his Juris Doctorate in 2002.
After law school, Mike chose to serve his community, gaining admission to practice law before the Supreme Court of Virginia in 2002 and the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia in 2003. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts of the Western District of Virginia and the Southern District of West Virginia, and regularly appears before the Virginia Worker’s Compensation Commission and the Social Security Administration.
Mike remains active in both legal and local communities. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Bar, and the American Justice Association. Currently, he serves on the Board of Governors of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and chairs the Young Trial Lawyers Section of VTLA. Though primarily practicing in the Charlottesville and Harrisonburg offices, his client representation extends nationwide.
