Stephen Vaughan Sommers

Stephen V. Sommers, licensed to practice law in Virginia since 1999, Texas since 1997, and Maryland since 1996, brings a wealth of experience to his legal practice in Midlothian, Virginia. Born in Camp Pendleton, California, on October 4, 1956, Mr. Sommers completed his education with a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State University (Summa Cum Laude, 1981), a Master of Arts from Golden Gate University (1986), and a Juris Doctor from American University (1995).

After a distinguished 22-year career in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Major, Mr. Sommers transitioned to law, bringing his disciplined approach to the courtroom. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Fourth and Tenth Circuits and all Virginia state courts.

Mr. Sommers is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Trial Lawyers Association, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Virginia Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Aviation Section of the Texas Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Lawyer-Pilot Bar Association. His expertise spans personal injury, criminal defense, medical malpractice, product liability, aviation crash litigation, and general civil litigation in both state and federal courts.

He is also a proud member of The Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a prestigious group of trial lawyers in the United States. Residing in the west end of Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Sommers lives with his wife Renita and their two sons, while his daughter, a University of Virginia graduate, resides in New York City.
