Matthew James Barbero

Matthew Barbero, a seasoned criminal defense and traffic attorney, leads the Legal Defense Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Originating from Westchester, New York, Matthew honed his public speaking skills through stand-up comedy, comedic acting, and improv. His early passion for chess led him to work as a chess tutor during college before pursuing a legal career.

Matthew earned his law degree from the George Washington University Law School, a top 25 institution at the time of his attendance and graduation. While in law school, he met his wife, Stephanie, and they chose to establish their life in Virginia.

After passing the Virginia Bar, Matthew immediately focused on criminal defense. He joined the Hunter Law Firm, where he specialized in Criminal Defense, Traffic Defense, and DUI/DWI Defense. Within just four months, he successfully defended a client facing life imprisonment, achieving a dismissal of one charge and not guilty verdicts on the remaining two.

Mentored by Thomas Hunter, the firm's owner, Matthew gained invaluable experience that inspired him to establish his own practice. He now owns and operates the Legal Defense Center, where he continues to provide expert legal representation.
