About Nicholas Berning
Nicholas Berning has been dedicated to the field of immigration law since January 2007. Throughout his career, he has represented over 200 EB-5 immigrant investors and E-2 non-immigrant investors. His expertise extends to various immigrant visas, including family and employer sponsorships, as well as temporary work visas.
Prior to co-founding Boundary Bay Law, Nicholas served as the Practice Manager at T.D. Knowles & Associates, PLLC from 2008 to 2015. During this period, he contributed significantly to the legal community by serving on the Washington State Practice of Law Board from 2009 to 2015. Appointed by the Washington State Supreme Court, he took on roles as the Board’s Chair in 2012 and Vice Chair for two terms, playing a pivotal role in the finalization of the Limited License Legal Technician Rule.
From 2009 to 2014, Nicholas shared his knowledge by teaching paralegal courses at Whatcom Community College, focusing on Legal Research and Writing, Law Office Technology, and Interviewing and Investigating.
Currently, Nicholas is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association’s Washington Chapter Consular Processing Committee. He has also led the Washington Chapter’s Limited License Legal Technician Committee as its Chair for two terms.
