Lanning M. Trueb

Lanning M. Trueb has dedicated nearly three decades to representing seamen in plaintiff maritime cases throughout the North Pacific. His legal expertise spans the waters off Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and Russia. In addition to his legal practice, Lanning has firsthand experience as the owner and operator of a commercial fishing vessel in Alaska's salmon fishery.

His extensive involvement in maritime law includes handling over a thousand maritime matters. These cases encompass a broad spectrum of issues, such as commercial fishing injury and death claims, as well as serious injury and death cases related to oil spill response, tug and barge operations, SERVS, offshore supply, tankers, and cargo vessels.

Lanning has also represented crew members and their families in maritime wrongful death and vessel sinking claims. Notable cases involve vessels such as OCEANIC, LIN J, AMBER DAWN, ALEUTIAN VENTURE, BARGE 141, STAR RUBY, ADVANTAGE, ARCTIC ROSE, SCIROCCO, KUPREANOF, and DORTHY L.

A graduate of the University of Texas, Austin, and the University of Montana School of Law (High Honors), Lanning is admitted to practice law in Alaska, Washington, and Oregon. He actively contributes to the legal community as a member of the Executive Committee of the Admiralty Section of the Alaska Bar Association.
