Janice K. Langbehn

Janice K. Langbehn has built a distinguished career in Family Law, grounded in her extensive experience in social work and advocacy. She holds two master’s degrees in Social Work and Public Administration, and initially served as a social worker for the State of Washington. Her advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in securing equal rights for hospital visitations, earned her the Presidential Citizen's Medal from President Barack Obama in 2011 and the National Liberty Award.

After five years as a Guardian Ad Litem, Janice pursued a legal career, obtaining her Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law. She began her legal practice as a public defender before focusing on Family Law. Her dedication to family issues is evident in her work with Child Protective Services across Pierce, Thurston, and Lewis Counties, as well as her current role as a Family Law Attorney.

Janice is committed to guiding families through complex legal matters, including high-conflict custody, adoption, surrogacy, and dissolutions. Her experience includes working with over 1,000 children and families, and she has also served as a foster parent while raising her own four adopted children.

Throughout her career, Janice has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and actively participates in the Washington State Bar Association's Diversity Committee. She is also a member of the Q-Law and Family Law sections. In 2010, she received the National Equality Award from the Human Rights Campaign.
