About Sandra Kinney

With a distinguished career in both public service and private practice, Sandra Kinney has dedicated over 25 years to representing clients across West Virginia. She began her legal journey as a Legal Aid lawyer, assisting numerous individuals with divorce, custody, support, and adoption cases.

Sandra has served in significant roles, including as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of West Virginia, Civil Division, and as an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division of the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office. Her private practice experience is highlighted by her focus on employment litigation. She has extensive courtroom experience, having tried cases before juries and argued appeals before the West Virginia Supreme Court.

In 2017, Sandra was recognized by the WVU College of Law and West Virginia Executive Magazine as part of their inaugural Lawyers and Leaders group. That same year, she established West Virginia Women Attorneys, the state’s first women's bar association, where she currently serves as president.

Sandra graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame and earned her law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. She is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the U.S. District Court for both the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
