Heather Nelson

Heather L. Nelson is a seasoned family law attorney with extensive experience representing clients across Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth counties. Her commitment to professionalism and thorough understanding of legal nuances have earned her a reputation as a respected and effective advocate in the legal community. Raised in Southeastern Wisconsin, Heather graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2009, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and Political Science, along with a Certificate in Criminal Justice. During her studies, she interned with the Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation and studied business in Nicosia, Cyprus.

In 2012, Heather earned her Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her law school experiences included studying international law and criminal justice in London, serving as a Certified Student Attorney, and volunteering at the William Mitchell Self-Help Clinic. She also participated in the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition and interned for a Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge, gaining valuable courtroom insights.

After passing the Wisconsin Bar Exam and Multi-State Bar Exam in 2013, Heather began her legal career as an associate attorney at a family law firm in Kenosha County. She later became a managing partner/shareholder at a family law firm in Racine County. Currently, Heather operates her own family law firm in Racine, Wisconsin, serves as a Guardian ad Litem for Racine County, and is a member of the Village of Mount Pleasant Sex Offender Appeals Board.
