About Richard Allen Erb Jr

Richard Allen Erb Jr., a dedicated attorney in Wyoming, began his career far from the legal field. A 1974 graduate of Tongue River High School in Dayton, Wyoming, Rick initially worked as a coal miner in the Gillette area. His roles included operating mining equipment, certified welding, blasting, and eventually, production supervision. Despite his demanding job, he pursued higher education, earning his bachelor's degree with honors from Eckerd College in 1989.

In 1990, Rick transitioned from coal mining to law, enrolling at the University of Wyoming College of Law. During his studies, he contributed significantly to the Land & Water Law Review (now the Wyoming Law Review), serving as an Articles Editor and publishing a Case Note in 1992 and co-authoring a Comment in 1993.

After graduating in 1993, Rick began his legal practice in Buffalo, Wyoming. For a decade, he served the community, notably as the Johnson County and Prosecuting Attorney for four years. In this role, he represented the State of Wyoming in criminal prosecutions and Johnson County in civil matters.

In 2003, Rick relocated his primary practice to Gillette, Wyoming, while maintaining an office in Buffalo. He actively participates in the legal community as a member of the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association and contributes to various committees of the Wyoming Bar Association.

Rick resides in rural Campbell County with his wife, Stephany. They have three adult children, grandchildren, and several horses. Outside of his legal work, Rick enjoys playing the fiddle and attending bluegrass music festivals.
