Thomas Throne

S. Thomas Throne is a distinguished attorney located in Buffalo, Wyoming, with a primary focus on oil and gas law. He began his legal career in Sheridan in 1979 with Lonabaugh & Riggs and established his own practice in September 1982. Since then, Tom has grown his firm to include five lawyers.

Tom specializes in representing oil and gas companies, expertly handling the preparation of title opinions, and participating in administrative hearings before the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and the North Dakota Industrial Commission. He is also adept in litigation and transactions concerning operating agreements, title issues, and various surface and mineral use matters. A notable achievement in his career includes his involvement with the Coalbed Methane Ad Hoc Committee, which played a pivotal role in the passage of the Enzi bill in 1998.

Tom has served as a trustee for the Wyoming State Bar Association to the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and is a member of the Public Lands Committee of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, representing the State of Wyoming. He frequently delivers presentations to oil and gas attorneys and land professionals throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

Raised on a ranch in Campbell County, Wyoming, which his family continues to own, Tom also owns mineral rights in the area. Alongside his professional achievements, Tom and his wife have raised four daughters.
