Edward L. Alley graduated with honors from the University of Alabama, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science before attending the University of Alabama School of Law. During law school, he clerked at the Tuscaloosa County District Counsel's Office, where he successfully tried several felony jury trials as a student. His exemplary performance led to his appointment as a prosecutor in the same office, where he handled numerous jury trials and represented the office in District Court.

His expertise earned him the role of a special federal prosecutor focused on combating gun violence, a position he held for three years, evaluating cases for federal prosecution.
Mr. Alley further honed his litigation skills at the Limestone County District Legal Professional's Office, where he was responsible for thousands of misdemeanor cases and hundreds of felony cases in Circuit Court, with a focus on drug and narcotics cases. Beyond his trial work, he has served as an instructor at Alabama police academies, teaching law enforcement topics such as DUI laws and the Alabama criminal code.
He has also contributed to the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives by teaching at the National Center for Explosives Research and Technology. In 2011, Mr. Alley was appointed as a Special Municipal Judge for the City of Athens, Alabama.
