James Artamio Yoro

James A. Yoro is a senior partner at Chain | Cohn | Clark, where he oversees the firm's workers' compensation department. With a reputation as one of the most seasoned and respected attorneys in California's Central Valley, he has dedicated nearly four decades to advocating for injured workers' rights.

Throughout his career, James has successfully argued cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court. His notable achievements include securing a $4.5 million workers' compensation settlement, one of the largest in Kern County.

James is a Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist in California. He has served as the past president of the Kern County Bar Association and was recently recognized by the Best Lawyers in America program, a prestigious legal ranking service. Additionally, he has been selected as a “Top Attorney” in workers' compensation law by his peers in Kern County.

James is actively involved in the legal community, serving on the Board of Directors for Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance and the Board of Governors for the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association. He has also contributed as a Board Member for the Kern Regional Center.

His educational background includes attending Garces Memorial High School in Bakersfield, earning a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and obtaining his law degree from the UC Berkeley School of Law.

After law school, James began his legal career as a staff attorney at Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance. He joined Chain | Cohn | Clark as an associate in 1982 and became a partner in 1987.
