Shahzeen Karim

Shahzeen Karim is a distinguished litigator renowned for her dedicated advocacy on behalf of those injured and her commanding courtroom presence. Her expertise in immigration law and passion for advocacy define her proactive legal approach. Shahzeen's legal career began in Chicago, where she handled a range of criminal cases, from misdemeanors to felonies, in Cook County courts.

After relocating to Texas, Shahzeen concentrated on immigration law, initially assisting clients with family-related immigration issues. Her work included securing VAWA benefits, U Visas, hardship waivers, and managing adjustment of status and naturalization processes. She later transitioned to business immigration, effectively obtaining work authorizations and employment visas for employees through PERM Labor Certification applications, immigrant petitions, and permanent residence applications, both within the U.S. and at international consulates.

Though offered a position with the Department of Homeland Security in San Francisco, Shahzeen opted to continue her advocacy for asylum seekers in removal proceedings at a prominent corporate firm in San Francisco, collaborating with her colleague Ryan. She continues to represent clients in California, working alongside her partner.

Shahzeen is licensed in Illinois and has been an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2016. She earned her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University after graduating with honors from the University of Illinois-Chicago, where she double-majored in Criminal Justice and Philosophy. Her extensive experience and strategic acumen have consistently resulted in successful outcomes in complex cases before U.S. Department of State offices, Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and Immigration Court.
