About Lawrence Taylor
Lawrence Taylor, a distinguished DUI defense attorney, leads The Law Offices of Taylor & Taylor, a firm dedicated exclusively to DUI defense since 1979. Mr. Taylor, a former Marine, graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1966 and the UCLA School of Law in 1969. He began his legal career as a deputy public defender and district attorney in Los Angeles before transitioning to private practice.
Mr. Taylor's notable legal contributions include serving as the trial judge's legal advisor in the People vs Charles Manson case and as Supreme Court counsel in the "Onion Field" murder case. He was also appointed by the Attorney General of Montana as an independent Special Prosecutor for a grand jury investigation into governmental corruption.
In academia, Mr. Taylor has been a faculty member at Gonzaga University School of Law, earning the title of Professor of the Year, and a Visiting Professor at Pepperdine University Law School. He was also appointed as a Fulbright Professor of Law at Osaka University in Japan. With over 34 years in the field, he has authored more than 30 articles and 13 books, including the seminal texts "Drunk Driving Defense" and "California Drunk Driving Defense."
Mr. Taylor is one of only four DUI attorneys in California to be Board-certified as a DUI defense specialist. Over the last 30 years, he has been a sought-after lecturer on DUI trial techniques and constitutional issues, presenting at over 200 CLE seminars across 39 states, including events by the American Bar Association and other prestigious organizations.
He was instrumental in founding the National College for DUI Defense, serving on its Board of Regents and eventually being elected Dean.
