Claudia Patricia Hurtado-Myers

Claudia Hurtado-Myers is a dedicated legal advocate with over two decades of experience serving victims of crime in the United States. Her work focuses on assisting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking, ensuring they receive the legal protection and resources necessary to heal and rebuild their lives.

A recognized leader in victim advocacy, Claudia has been instrumental in educating legal professionals, law enforcement, and the judiciary on the unique challenges faced by marginalized crime victims, particularly immigrant survivors. She regularly conducts “know your rights” presentations and provides training on victim-based immigration relief, empowering both survivors and the professionals who serve them.

Claudia’s commitment extends beyond legal representation—she is a coalition builder, working to strengthen networks that support crime victims. Her pro bono efforts include serving as a volunteer attorney at the Artesia family detention facility, where she fought for detained families. For her work, she received the Oregon AILA Pro Bono Award and the AILA Michael Maggio Pro Bono Award in 2015.

Previously, as the Senior Staff Attorney for the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants in North Carolina, Claudia led legal advocacy efforts for unaccompanied children, engaging in impact litigation and policy reform to protect their rights.
