Matthew S. Carney

Matthew S. Carney serves as a partner at Carey Leisure Carney, where he is committed to advocating for those who have been injured. Before joining the firm, Matthew gained valuable experience as an associate at a respected insurance defense firm and worked as a licensed insurance agent and commercial property and casualty underwriter. This unique background informs his focus on plaintiff representation, particularly in addressing the strategies insurance companies use to avoid fair claims handling.

Matthew is passionate about empowering his clients by ensuring they are well-informed about the litigation process. He believes that families should have comprehensive knowledge to make decisions that best serve their interests.

Matthew earned his degree with honors from Stetson University College of Law, where he was awarded the Victor O. Wehle Award for excellence in Trial Advocacy. During his time in law school, he gained further legal insight by serving as a judicial intern for the Second District Court of Appeal under Judge Craig C. Villanti, and for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida under Magistrate Judge Thomas G. Wilson.

Outside of his professional commitments, Matthew enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two sons.
