Melodie Johnson-Lopez

Melodie Johnson-Lopez graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Central Connecticut State University in 1991. She then earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law in 1994. Beginning her career in the public defender's office, she honed her skills in criminal law before transitioning to the state attorney's office. Later, she established a civil litigation practice.

In 2009, she co-founded Lopez & Humphries, P.A. with Kevin Humphries. Their firm handles various personal injury cases, including commercial truck and motor vehicle accidents, as well as premises liability. Attorney López has conducted over one hundred jury trials across Dade, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, and Polk Counties.

Attorney López's leadership includes serving as chairperson of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee twice. Additionally, she was appointed by the Governor of Florida to the Judicial Nominating Commission for Polk County.

Her expertise is frequently showcased in media, with appearances on outlets like The O’Reilly Factor, CNN, and Univision, among others. She is also active in the legal community, participating in the Polk County Trial Lawyers Association and the Lakeland Bar Association, while also coaching her kids' sports teams.
