David McGuffey

David L. McGuffey leads the Elder Law practice at David L. McGuffey, LLC in Dalton, Georgia. His practice is dedicated to assisting elders, individuals with special needs, and their caregivers. David specializes in helping clients with chronic health conditions navigate long-term care solutions. He is certified as an Elder Law Legal professional by the National Elder Law Foundation and as an Elder Law Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. Holding an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, David is a well-respected figure in his field.

David earned his B.A. in 1987 and his J.D. in 1993 from Georgia State University. He is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the American Association for Justice, among other local bar associations.

Currently, David serves as the Chair of the State Bar of Georgia's Elder Law Section and has previously chaired the Tennessee Bar Association's Elder Law Section. He has been a member of the American Association for Justice since 1997 and led one of its national litigation groups from 2006 to 2007. His involvement extends to elder advocacy groups like the National Citizens' Coalition for Nursing Home Reform.

David contributes to the community as a Board of Directors member for the Northwest Georgia Healthcare Partnership and the Northwest Georgia office of Georgia Alzheimer's chapter. He also serves on advisory committees for Peachtree Estates Assisted Living Facility and Ross Woods Adult Day Care Center. Since 2008, he has been part of the Ethics Advisory Committee for Alexian Brothers in Chattanooga. As a member of the Special Needs Alliance, David is committed to disability and public benefits law. His practice is affiliated with the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association, where he serves on the Board of Directors.
