Seth L. Cardeli

Seth L. Cardeli is a Partner at Levin & Perconti in Chicago, where he leverages over a decade of experience in trial law to represent families nationwide affected by medical misconduct and negligence, particularly in cases involving birth-injured children. Seth is renowned for his expertise in navigating the complex medical and courtroom challenges associated with birth-injury litigation.

In addition to his practice, Seth frequently conducts educational seminars for attorneys, focusing on topics such as depositions and overcoming discovery hurdles. He recently taught a course on “Basic Fetal Heart Rate Patterns, Nomenclature, and Etiology,” aimed at aiding lawyers in interpreting electronic fetal heart monitoring data. His contributions to legal scholarship include articles on negligent newborn resuscitation published in legal journals.

Seth earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2008 and began his career at a prominent New York personal injury firm. After three years, he moved to Maryland, where he expanded his practice to include medical doctor negligence cases on a national scale. His pro hac vice admissions span numerous states, including Arizona, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, Missouri, and others.

Seth has achieved significant outcomes for his clients, such as a $40 million birth-injury verdict, a $29 million settlement in a delayed C-section case at UIC Medical Center, and a $27 million settlement for a child who endured preventable hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and asphyxia at birth. In 2024, he was honored with the Trial Excellence award by the Jury Verdict Reporter for the $40 million verdict, marking the highest reported medical malpractice verdict outside Cook County and the highest in Coles County.

Actively involved in the trial-lawyer community, Seth serves as Co-Chair of the American Association for Justice’s (AAJ) Birth Trauma Litigation Group and holds leadership roles on the AAJ’s PAC Task Force, Membership Oversight Committee, Public Affairs Committee, and Publications Committee.
