Maxine Weiss Kunz

Maxine Weiss Kunz, a founding partner at Weiss-Kunz & Oliver, LLC, has been dedicated to family law since 2005. Her practice encompasses traditional litigation, adoptions, and collaborative law. Maxine is certified for appointment as a Child Representative or Guardian ad Litem within Cook County and is also a certified practitioner of collaborative law in Illinois. She actively contributes to the field as a board member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois and serves as a certified mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution and Cook County courts.

Maxine's academic background includes undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Telecommunications from Indiana University-Bloomington. She earned her J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was awarded a certificate in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution and participated in the Mock Trial Advocacy Team.

Maxine has authored numerous articles and delivered lectures on various family law topics. She holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois, Chicago Bar Association, and DuPage County Bar Association. Her substantial involvement in the ISBA includes committee participation and volunteer work. In March 2018, The Catalyst, the newsletter of the ISBA’s Standing Committee on Women and the Law, featured Maxine in a spotlight article, recognizing her passion and dedication to family law. Her achievements have been acknowledged with recognitions such as the 2020 Super Lawyer and being named one of 40 Under 40 Attorneys to Watch by the American Society of Legal Advocates.
