Stephen Ware

Stephen Ware holds the prestigious position of Frank Edwards Tyler Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Kansas (KU) in Lawrence, Kansas. As an expert witness, he provides consulting and testimony on arbitration, contracts, secured transactions, and various other legal fields. His expertise is sought by a diverse range of attorneys across the United States, from solo practitioners to large law firms representing financial institutions and businesses.

At KU Law, Professor Ware teaches and conducts research in Contracts, Bankruptcy, Consumer Law, Secured Transactions, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), including arbitration, mediation, and negotiation. He is the author of four books and 49 law review articles, with his work being cited by the Supreme Court of the United States and in over 35 other federal and state cases.

Professor Ware coaches the KU Law bankruptcy moot court team and has provided testimony before the United States Senate and House of Representatives, as well as state legislatures. He is a frequent speaker at academic conferences and judicial education programs. An elected member of the American Law Institute (ALI), he has served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and on the editorial board of the Journal of Legal Education.
