About Philip Coleman Lawson
Born in Pineville, Bell County, Kentucky, Philip Coleman Lawson is the son of two lawyers. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. Following graduation, he attended the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, where he was actively involved with the Moot Court Board and the Kentucky Intrastate Mock Trial Team. During this time, he gained practical experience clerking for a mid-size firm in Louisville and for former Chief Judge Hon. Sara W. Combs of the Kentucky Court of Appeals in Frankfort.
After earning his law degree, Philip relocated to Frankfort to serve as a Trial Counsel with the Department of Public Advocacy. In this role, he represented clients in a wide range of cases, from minor traffic violations and DUIs to serious felonies in both District and Circuit Courts.
Philip then transitioned to a prominent statewide firm in Lexington, Kentucky, where he broadened his practice to include insurance defense, handling cases such as car accidents, trucking litigation, slip and fall incidents, product liability, and construction defects. He also expanded his expertise to federal criminal defense, personal injury, family law, and complex civil matters, including real estate, business, and administrative litigation.
In 2017, Philip joined True Guarnieri Ayer, LLP in Frankfort. He continues to advocate for clients in state and federal criminal defense, personal injury, and complex civil litigation across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
