Mr Jerome Weldon Matthews Jr

Jerome Weldon Matthews Jr., a native of the New Orleans area, grew up on the Westbank. He served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom before pursuing higher education. In 2008, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy from Tulane University. He then obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 2011.

During his time at law school, Mr. Matthews gained valuable experience as a judicial extern to Judge John T. Noonan at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He also contributed as a board member and web designer for both the Berkeley Journal of African American Law and Policy and the Berkeley Journal of Criminal Law.

After completing law school, Mr. Matthews joined Liskow and Lewis in New Orleans, where he worked in the energy litigation and commercial litigation sections. At Liskow and Lewis, he defended major oil companies in significant cases, including claims related to a well blowout and oil spill that resulted in multiple fatalities, as well as defending against billion-dollar claims of alleged oilfield contamination.

New Orleans Criminal Defense is also a focus area for Mr. Matthews, where he continues to apply his extensive legal knowledge and experience.
