About Jeffrey A. Mitchell
Jeffrey A. Mitchell was born in Mobile, Alabama, on April 7, 1963. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in 1985, followed by a Juris Doctor from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1989. During his studies, he excelled in moot court competitions, securing the Outstanding Oral Advocate award at the F. Lee Bailey National Moot Court Competition and reaching the finals in the Flory Trial competition.
Mr. Mitchell is admitted to practice before the Louisiana Supreme Court, various state district and appellate courts, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Federal Claims and has been granted pro hac vice status in Mississippi and Alabama.
His primary focus is on Medical Malpractice, being one of approximately 12 lawyers in Louisiana Board Certified in this area by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He also practices in Automobile Accidents, Products Liability, Premises Liability, and Maritime Law.
Mr. Mitchell co-founded and was an equity partner in several law firms, including Phillips & Mitchell, The Cochran Practice New Orleans, and The Cochran Practice Jackson. In 2006-2007, Mr. Mitchell chaired the Medical Malpractice Section of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association. He is recognized among the top 100 trial lawyers by the American Trial Lawyers Association. His affiliations include the Louisiana State and New Orleans Bar Associations, and he holds the position of Senior Counsel for the American College of Barristers, reflecting his commitment to excellence in trial advocacy.
