Jeffrey J. Tierney

Jeffrey J. Tierney, a fifth-generation Montanan, hails from Great Falls. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Yale University before earning his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. During his time there, he contributed to the Wisconsin Innocence Project, focusing on correcting wrongful convictions. In 2013, Jeff returned to Montana and has been a key member of the Goetz firm since.

Jeff's legal expertise spans a wide range of civil matters, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. His practice areas include fraud, breach of contract, tortious interference, intra-corporate disputes, land use and access issues, insurance coverage and bad faith, personal injury and wrongful death, as well as public records disputes and constitutional claims.

In addition to his civil litigation work, Jeff has been appointed as a Special Attorney General, tasked with investigating and prosecuting campaign finance violations for the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices.

Jeff is admitted to practice law in both Montana and Wisconsin. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

His professional affiliations include membership in the American Bar Association and the Montana Trial Lawyers Association. Since 2019, he has served on the board of directors of the Gallatin County Bar Association.

Jeff's legal acumen has been recognized with his designation as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” annually since 2020.
