Joseph Steinfield

Joseph Steinfield is a distinguished trial lawyer with extensive experience in representing clients in civil suits across various jurisdictions in both state and federal courts. With a specialization in First Amendment matters, he is recognized for his broad litigation expertise. Joseph frequently acts as a mediator and arbitrator and has been a member of the Commercial Arbitration panel of the American Arbitration Association for over 30 years. He has also served as an expert witness in cases involving alleged judicial malpractice and the reasonableness of attorneys' fees.

Joseph divides his professional time between Boston and Keene, NH. He became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1984 and has held multiple leadership roles within the organization. His contributions include chairing several bar committees, such as the Massachusetts Clients Security Board and the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct.

As an adjunct professor, Joseph teaches a seminar on "Defamation Law and Litigation" at Boston College and the University of New Hampshire. His teaching career extends internationally, having taught in Russia, Slovenia, and Iceland. An accomplished author, Joseph published his book "Claremont Boy: My New Hampshire Roots and the Gift of Memory" in 2014. He is also a monthly columnist for the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript and the Keene Sentinel.

Joseph's legal career began after law school when he served as a law clerk to Justice Paul C. Reardon of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. He joined Hill & Barlow in Boston, becoming a partner in 1971, and continued his practice at Prince Lobel as a partner following Hill & Barlow's dissolution in 2003.
