Murtaza Akhtar

Murtaza Akhtar is an integral part of the firm's Business Law and Family Law practice groups. Before relocating to the United States, Murtaza lived in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates. He earned his initial law degree from the University of Nottingham in 2009 and practiced law in Pakistan for over ten years. During his career there, he transitioned from law firms to in-house legal roles, advising on complex commercial transactions such as mergers and acquisitions and large-scale industrial projects.

His clientele included multinational corporations, closely held corporations, startups, and entrepreneurs. Upon moving to the U.S., Murtaza spent a year at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. He then pursued further education, obtaining his Juris Doctor from the DePaul University College of Law in 2025.

Now residing in the Upper Valley, Murtaza is eager to engage with local civic organizations. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and running on nearby trails, supporting his wife in her ultramarathons, and experimenting with new recipes. Additionally, he plays guitar and explores photography whenever his schedule allows.
