Matthew Chandler

Matthew Chandler, a partner at Payne, Powell, Truitt & Chandler in Lubbock, Texas, brings extensive legal expertise to his practice, being licensed in both Texas and New Mexico. Raised in Clovis, New Mexico, he was influenced by his father, a former Magistrate Judge and New Mexico State Senator, which instilled in him a strong foundation of faith and work ethic.

Before his current role, Matt served for over a decade as the 9th Judicial District Attorney in Clovis, New Mexico. During this time, he was recognized with the New Mexico Prosecutor of the Year Award, handling some of the most serious criminal cases in the state, including 35 murder cases and one of the last death penalty cases in New Mexico.

Matt's legal experience is further enriched by his tenure as a District Judge in the 9th Judicial District. In this capacity, he presided over thousands of cases involving criminal law, family law, and civil disputes, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on judicial and prosecutorial processes.
