Joseph A. Gershman

Joseph A. Gershman, a partner at Lax, Neville & Intelisano, LLP, is highly regarded for his expertise in complex commercial, securities, real estate, and bankruptcy litigation. He has earned an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, underscoring his reputation as an outstanding litigator among his peers. In 2013, he received The Legal Aid Society’s Pro Bono Publico Award for his exceptional service.

Mr. Gershman brings extensive experience in handling commercial and securities arbitrations. His clientele includes financial services firms, hedge funds, real estate companies, law firms, and litigation trusts. He adeptly manages a variety of commercial disputes, such as securities fraud, contractual breaches, partnership disputes, lender liability claims, RICO claims, antitrust claims, and asset recovery for creditors of insolvent companies.

Before joining Lax, Neville & Intelisano, LLP, Mr. Gershman was a partner at Rich, Intelisano & Katz, and previously at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman. His career began as an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel. He graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1996, where he was involved in the Board of Student Advisers and the Tenant Advocacy Project. He earned his A.B. cum laude from Princeton University in 1990, majoring in public policy at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

He is admitted to the New York State Bar and is authorized to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of Colorado, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Gershman is also a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Federal Bar Council.
