Michael J. Betts leads Michael J. Betts LLC with more than 38 years of experience in civil litigation. His practice areas include commercial litigation and business disputes, securities litigation, FINRA arbitrations, investment-related claims, and trade secret litigation. Additionally, he handles restrictive covenant litigation and professional negligence claims.

Michael serves as an alternative dispute resolution neutral and is frequently chosen by litigants as a mediator. He holds certification as a mediator by the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and is listed on the national arbitrator rosters for both the American Arbitration Association and FINRA.

Michael's legal career began at Reed Smith Shaw and McClay (now Reed Smith LLP), where he served as litigation counsel until 1994. After leaving Reed Smith, he founded a boutique litigation firm in Pittsburgh. Apart from a five-year tenure as Senior Litigation Counsel for PNC Bank, he has been dedicated to private practice in civil litigation. He achieved the position of Partner in 1989.
