Matthew J Lager

Matthew J. Lager, a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, has lived in Bucks, Centre, and Erie counties. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Pennsylvania State University’s main campus before pursuing his Juris Doctor at The Dickinson School of Law, where he finished in the top third of his class. During his time at Penn State Law, Matt contributed to the Rural Economic Development Clinic and was honored as a Public Interest Advocate for his pro bono work with small businesses in rural communities. Additionally, he represented the school at the National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition in New York.

Before his graduation, Matt was awarded the “CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Excellent Achievement in the Study of Workers’ Compensation Law.” His early legal experience includes serving as an intern law clerk for The Honorable Frank Palumbo of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, where he drafted judicial opinions for appeals to Pennsylvania’s Superior and Commonwealth courts.

Joining Bernard Stuczyski & Barnett in 2012, Matt has concentrated his practice on Workers’ Compensation, Car Accidents, Personal Injury, and Social Security Disability law. Recognized by peers for his advocacy skills, he has been invited to join several committees within the Erie County Bar Association. Matt is committed to achieving substantial settlements for his clients and is active in providing pro bono services through the Erie County Bar Association’s “LAVA” program.

In 2017, Matt was promoted to Partner at Bernard Stuczyski & Barnett, underscoring his dedication and contributions to the firm.
